First, I have to say that these are very well-constructed shorts. I'm a distance runner and i'm in a stage where I'm searching for the ideal pair of running shorts for me -- I need to buy a bunch.
These arrived quickly and for a reasonable price. The pockets are great and in the right places. I'm not necessarily a "camo" guy but although the panels were a bit more prominent than I was expecting, don't mind them too much. Lately I find myself in between size M and size L for shorts, but these felt like a pretty roomy large -- might have been better off with an M for me.
As far as running shorts go, though, the fabric is pretty thick/heavy for running shorts. I went for a run on a semi-humid day, and admittedly I sweat a lot. That's one reason I was interested in these -- the brief-style liners to me are WAY better for running, and sometime in the last couple of years, someone has decided that ALL running shorts have to have a boxer-brief/compression liner. These don't, which is great.
So my only issue is really the fabric. It's a bit heavy to begin with, so when you are running there's a fair amount of that nylon swishing as the fabric rubs against itself. And once I was several miles in and the fabric was wet, it didn't seem to be wicking very well and got quite heavy. On a longer run, I'd imagine there might be some possibility of significant chafing as a result.
Still, I liked these. I guess I'd call them active amphibious short, but not necessarily running shorts. If you don't sweat much, your results may vary.
